How to quality-check outsourced real estate photo editing

Outsourcing changes who performs the edit, not who is accountable for the client-facing result. QC should catch incomplete context as well as visible editing problems.

QUICK ANSWER

Use a named reviewer and the same acceptance sequence for every outsourced submission: verify the property and expected files, compare the result with the job brief and current studio references, record file-specific corrections, and approve only the checked version. Sample-based review may reduce effort only where your own risk policy allows it.

Verify the submission before judging style

Confirm the property identifier, current version, ordered service, expected file count or manifest, output format and any special request. A visually polished set can still be wrong if it belongs to another property or omits an ordered image.

Keep source, submitted and approved locations separate so the reviewer knows which version is under decision.

Review against visible acceptance criteria

Use the studio’s current reference examples and the job-specific brief. Check completeness, consistent treatment, obvious technical or export problems, special instructions and the delivery requirements your team agreed. Avoid inventing a new preference during each review.

When a correction is needed, cite the file and intended outcome instead of sending a broad “redo” message.

Illustrative correction record

For a fictional submission, the reviewer confirms the correct 32-file set, then finds two requested changes: one selected kitchen image is missing and one exterior export uses the wrong version. The reviewer rejects only the submitted version, records both items and gives a new review time. The editor returns a corrected version; the reviewer checks the complete package before approval.

The example shows decision traceability, not a universal file count.

Use patterns to improve the partnership

Group repeated corrections by cause: incomplete sources, unclear instructions, outdated reference, editor execution or review inconsistency. Fix the owning process and share approved examples. If the team changes reviewers, preserve the same acceptance record and escalation boundaries.

  • Track submission and approval separately.
  • Keep feedback attached to the correct version.
  • Escalate changes that alter property facts or agreed scope.
  • Review backup editors before urgent use.
